Great cricketers don't always become the best coaches, Shaharyar says about Miandad:
LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan on Friday issued clarification over his remarks he made about former captains and legendary players Imran Khan and Javed Miandad and incumbent Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

“I
am not saying with any political inclinations, but on performance. I do
not have any political affiliations,” Shaharyar had said.
However,
he was quick to admit that Imran was a greater political personality.
“Misbah is a much better captain than Imran Khan, although Imran is a
bigger political personality.”
During the same IPC committee meeting, Shaharyar was
reported to have said, “Legendary batsman Javed Miandad was not a
successful coach when he was assigned the job.”
On Friday however, the PCB chief issued clarification over the above-mentioned remarks.
“Misbah
had statistically been the most successful captain in Pakistan, whereas
Imran Khan is the most inspirational captain and greatest icon in
Pakistan cricket,” Shaharyar’s clarification statement in a press
release.
On Miandad, the chairman was quoted as saying:
“In answer to a question by a committee member, the chairman had
acknowledged that Miandad was one of Pakistan’s greatest cricketers.
“However,
he stated that great cricketers do not necessarily become the best
coaches. He considers Miandad an outstanding cricketer.”
